Who we are

Meet our Founder

I'm Isabella Tabares, founder of Footprints of Uganda. Service has always been a core part of who I am—I've volunteered since I was 14, dedicating my time to nursing homes, hospitals, animal rescues and the local community center. My favorite volunteer work as been teaching at my local church, teaching children between the age of 4-6 years old about Jesus for the past 8 years it has been the most fulling experience. In the Fall of 2023, I spent four transformative months in Uganda, I volunteered at a school and submerged my self in the culture reaffirming my passion for serving others and improving lives. While my professional background lies in human resources, my true calling lies in making a positive impact on others and their communities. My faith in Jesus guides me, and I am dedicated to spreading his goodness and love wherever I can. It's through His love that I find the strength and purpose to continue my journey, leaving behind footprints of hope and transformation wherever I go.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” Jeremiah 29:11

Why the name “Footprints of Uganda”

The name "Footprints of Uganda" was born from a deeply moving experience I had while in rural Uganda in the fall of 2023. During a village party I organized, I bought 50 pairs of shoes for the children. As I knelt down to fit the shoes onto their tiny feet, I was overwhelmed by the sight of all those little feet eagerly trying to reach me for a pair of shoes. Some of the children had no shoes at all or had shoes that barely had any soles left. It struck me profoundly that something as simple as a pair of shoes could mean so much to them. In that emotional moment, with tears streaming down my face, I realized the impact I could make by providing for these children. That's where the name "Footprints of Uganda" originated—from the indelible impression those little feet left on my heart and the path it set me on, to help more children in need.
